YORKTOWN — Playing before a near-capacity crowd of about 2,200 volleyball
fans, Class 2A No.1-ranked Muncie edged Class 3A No.1 Yorktown 3-2 on Thursday.
Burris, ranked No.2 in the nation by ESPN and No.3 by Prepvolleyball.com,
trailed 12-9 in the final set before scoring four straight points for a 13-12
edge.
The rivals then exchanged points for the next 15 minutes to 21-20 before Burris
senior setter Allyson Morey’s tip-**** found an opening for the victory.
Burris improved to 33-0 heading into next week’s sectional it will host at Ball
State University’s Ball Gym.
Yorktown, 30-1, is ranked No.10 in the nation by ESPN and No.16 by
Prepvolleyball.com.
Burris won the first and fourth sets, 25-16, 25-23. Yorktown took Games 2 and 3,
26-24, 25-22.
